Cristiano Ronaldo | The Hat-trick Hero
Cristiano Ronaldo was again in the spotlight last night when his team Real Madrid smashed Atletico Madrid 3-0. The match was the first leg of the semi-finals in The Champions League. The Portuguese just can’t stop scoring goals. He sets a record after a record. His hat-trick against Atletico was his second consecutive in the Champions League elimination game. Ronaldo also found the net on three occasions in the second leg of the quarterfinals against Bayern Munich. No one else has done it before!
Another proof for Ronaldo’s brilliant form is that he scored 8 goals in his team’s last 3 matches from the Champions League! With his 10 goals in the tournament so far, he has scored 104 goals in The Champions League, which makes him the best goal-scorer of all time in the competition.
The Ronaldo’s third goal against Atletico Madrid was his 400th with Real Madrid’s colours. He joined Los Blancos in 2009 and since then the Portuguese forward has scored 281 goals in the Primera Division, 22 in the Spanish Cup, 88 in the Champions League and 9 in other competitions. Moreover, CR7 is Portugal’s leading top scorer with 71 goals in 138 appearances for his country.
We must admit that his playing style has changed a lot during his professional debut in 2002. He was used as a midfielder or a winger. We used to see magnificent technique, skills, tricks and stunning free-kick. Now we see pragmatism, but we shouldn’t blame him for that. That way, he prolongs his career.
A lot of specialists say that Ronaldo is going to keep that level of performance until the age of 40, because of his great physique. The Portuguese has stopped to take the free-kicks with that unstoppable spin, because it would harm his knee. Cristiano Ronaldo is now 32 years old, so I expect to see him playing for about 8 more years.
